Rewrite The Rules: Embrace Exercise For Strong Bones and Youthfulness As You Get Older

Hey there, fabulous ladies!

Are you ready to unlock the secret to aging gracefully? Well, here it is: exercise! Yes, you heard it right! Exercise isn't just for the young and restless, it's the key to maintaining your vitality and preserving those gorgeous bones as you journey through your 30, 40s and beyond. So, grab a cuppa, get cozy, and let's chat about why exercising your way to a healthier future is an absolute MUST!

Image this: you're strolling along the beach, feeling the sand between your toes, and basking in the warm glow of the sun. You radiate confidence, with a spring in your step and a youthful twinkle in your eye. How do you achieve this vibrant state of being? The answer lies in giving your bones the love and attention they deserve.

Or even better you’re in Hajj (rewards) and as well as doing your portion of Ibaadah and riturals (rewards), you can assist another muslim (rewards) who doesn’t have the ability to walk around the Ka’bah with ease.

You see, as we gracefully age, our bones naturally lose density, making them more susceptible to fractures and the dreaded osteoporosis. But fret not, my lovely ladies! Exercise comes to the rescue as the ultimate bone-saving superhero Alhamdulillah.

Imagine exercise as a sword of one of the strongest companions of the Prophet , swooping in to protect your bones from the forces of aging. When you engage in weight-bearing exercises like walking, jogging, weights, or even gardening, you're providing the much-needed stimulus for your bones to stay strong and resilient. It's like a secret handshake with your skeleton that says, "Hey bones, I've got your back!"

But wait, there's more! Movement doesn't just save your bones. it's a phenomenal plaster that nurtures your mind, body, and emotions. When you break a sweat, those feel-good endorphins flood your system, whisking away stress, anxiety, and the occasional case of the blues. You'll notice a spring in your step, and a renewed zest for attaining your goals that will make everyone wonder what your secret is.

Did you know that exercise can even help you manage your weight? Yes, Queens, regular physical activity, paired with a balanced diet, to be honest I don’t really like the word ‘diet’ too much so I will say balanced eating, is a winning combination for maintaining a healthy weight, and not only that, your body and mind. Say goodbye to the dreaded "middle-aged spread" and hello to a body and mind that feels strong, confident, and younger.

But, honestly, I get it. Life is busy, and finding time for exercise can feel like an impossible task. Don’t stress, my lovely and wonderful sis! Remember, it's not about running marathons or spending hours at the gym. Start small, incorporating movement into your daily routine. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, enjoy a leisurely walk with friends, or check out my IG for some moves. Or you know what?! Rush around the house cleaning, but do it fast, this will definitely get your heart rate up and have you bussing a sweat. LOL. Start off with the hover, make sure you change hands occasionally. The key is to keep moving, one step at a time, and make it a delightful part of your life. Bismillah.

And here's a little secret just for you: exercise is not always a lonely affair. Grab a friend, your hubby, or even one of your children, and embark on this journey together. It's not just about building stronger bones; it's about fostering connections, laughter, and memories that will warm your heart for years to come.

So, my fabulous ladies, let's make a pact to prioritise our health, embrace exercise, and age with grace and vitality. Thank Allah. Your bones will thank you, your mind will thank you, and your emotions and feelings will soar to new heights.

Remember, age is just a number, but the way you feel and the life you live—that's what truly matters. So, let's make dua for progress towards an amazing you.

Engaging in regular exercise offers numerous benefits for us, and these advantages become even more significant as we age.

Here are five benefits for us who exercise:

  1. Enhanced Physical Health: Regular exercise can help improve overall physical health by reducing the risk of various chronic conditions, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. Exercise can also help maintain a healthy weight, strengthen bones, and improve joint flexibility, muscle strength and what we women all need… mobility.

  2. Improved Mental Well-being: Exercise is not only beneficial for physical health but also has a positive impact on mental well-being. It help alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, boost mood and self-esteem, reduce stress levels, and promote better sleep. Regular exercise releases endorphins, which are natural mood-lifters, leading to a more positive outlook on life.

  3. Weight Management: As women age, maintaining a healthy weight becomes increasingly important. Regular exercise, combined with balanced eating, can help manage weight by burning calories, increasing metabolism, and preserving lean muscle mass. Engaging in aerobic exercises, strength training, and incorporating physical activity into daily routines contributes to weight management.

  4. Stronger Bones: Same as I previously mentioned but omen are particularly susceptible to osteoporosis, a condition characterised by low bone density and increased risk of fractures. Regular weight-bearing exercises can help strengthen bones. Also training that target specific muscle groups can also support bone health.

  5. Independence and Quality of Life: Exercise plays a crucial role in maintaining independence and a high quality of life as women age. By improving overall fitness, flexibility, and strength, regular exercise enables women to carry out daily activities more easily and reduces the risk of falls and injuries. Staying physically active allows women to remain self-sufficient and engaged in activities they enjoy for a longer period.

Huggs to you, my lovely ladies! Grow and glow!
