BMI

BMI-Body Mass Index is a measurement of a person’s size in respect to what is seen as either underweight, normal, over-weight, obese and morbidly obese. It is an approximate measurement of your body fat. It uses your weight and height to calculate a number that indicates whether you are what is generalised according to the health and medical institutions as a healthy, by weight. If a person is overweight according to the recommended sizes, they are more at risk of developing health problems such as

  • cardiovascular (heart and blood circulation) disease

  • high blood pressure (hypertension)

  • type 2 diabetes

  • osteoarthritis

  • certain types of cancers

  • depression and other mental health disorders.

If a person is underweight, they may be a risk of some of the following health issues, including:

  • compromised immune function

  • respiratory disease

  • malnourished

  • digestive diseases

  • cancer

  • osteoporosis

It is not something that cannot be changed. These disease and illness can be reversed. Finding a routine to implement movement and mindful eating can assist you in your journey. Remember this does not define your beauty according to what makes sense (your own definition of beauty). It defines your wellbeing, your energy, your ease of body movement and more.

I remind my clients that this journey needs to be for what you would like it to look like, what you would like to feel like and for what you can maintain as a healthy lifestyle.

“Beautiful people are not always good, but good people are always beautiful”.

as Ali Ibn Abu Talib said.

Beauty isn’t about the size you are, what you look like externally, your material possessions its about you internally. You as a compassionate and caring person, you as loving being, you as a good friend, you as a good daughter or son….this is beauty.

Aisha reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, gentleness is not found in anything but that it beautifies it, and it is not removed from anything but that it disgraces it.”
